Well, that thing was a joke, right? Originally, I was going to write up my reactions to the one hour event by itself, maybe just talk about new console and whatnot, and be done with it. But as the day went on, a stream of horrifying bad news continued to slip out, one after another, like diarrhea. When all was said and done, Microsoft had a full on PR nightmare on its hands for seemingly the entire day, and what I experienced wasn’t the thrill for the start of the console generation, or the excitement for a new way to consume my entertainment all in one device. I experienced a shit-storm of epic proportions, and the Internet was on fire with a rage I haven’t seen in muster up in years. On every forum thread, on every comment, on every reaction video, on every twitter reply, nothing but mudslinging and insults and an overwhelming negativity that spread like wildfire faster than actual wildfires do. Overall, I haven’t come across anyone who was optimistic about Microsoft’s future, or anyone who backed the Xbox One and its vision for a happy united living room. I couldn’t even find a devil’s advocate, and as much as I would like to play one; I’m afraid to be completely torn to bits, let alone shunned, by the mob scene of pissed off fanboys and heartbroken gamers. It feels a lot like when the disgruntled people of Germany jumped ship to the Nazi Party, their way of life shattered and the only thing left was to blame somebody. Not to compare anybody to being a Nazi sympathizer, but I’ve seen so many anti-Microsoft GIFs and “4>1” comments that the parallel could be made, the slow turning of the tide in the must maligned and never ending console wars. All in all, it was a very distressing day yesterday

The post Smoke, Mirrors, And Smart Glass: How Microsoft Failed With The Xbox One Reveal appeared first on Geek Binge.

Arrested Development Season 4 is almost upon us, and I'm sure fans all around the world are preparing for the return of everyone's favorite dysfunctional family. Netflix will be releasing the new season just like the rest of their original programming—all at once in one big chunk. And for most Arrested Development fans, they wouldn't have it any other way—this allows them to digest all 15 episodes of the season in one go, and have a hell of day doing it. But wait! Creator Mitch Hurwtiz doesn't advise this at all—in fact, he thinks it will ruin your enjoyment of the new season considerably. Find out exactly why after the jump

The post Mitch Hurwitz Advises You Not To Binge Watch Arrested Development Season 4 But, C’mon—You’re Going To Do It Anyways appeared first on Geek Binge.

In the next year or so, we're going to have to prepare ourselves for a huge exodus of fine dramas on AMC. Breaking Bad is ending later this year, and Mad Men's final season will begin in 2014. The Killing was saved miraculously last year, but I seriously doubt that will happen again. And Hell on Wheels? Hell, I forgot that show even existed in the first place. But ultimately, I don't think AMC is too worried about the loss of these shows. They always have the ace in their sleeve that is The Walking Dead. That series remains one of the most popular on TV, and that probably won't be changing anytime soon. And according to a recent interview, AMC plans to mine The Walking Dead for all it is worth...for at least a decade to come, in fact.

Ever since I first heard about the project, I was greatly looking forward to This Is The End. I love pretty much every cast member involved, and the apocalypse/Hollywood satire angles certainly catch my interests. And from what we've seen from the film so far in trailers and clips, it seemed like it would deliver. Now the first reactions have come out of a screening over in LA, and I'm happy to report that pretty much everyone who has seen the film is over the freaking moon about it. Because it seems that it's not only very, very funny—it's also very, VERY weird. And that gets me more excited than ever, really. Check out the first Twitter responses to This Is The End after the jump

The post Word of Mouth: This Is The End Is A Hilarious And Crazy Apocalyptic Oddity appeared first on Geek Binge.

It seems like every year since Modern Warfare 2, I've started to become more and more dissatisfied with Call of Duty. I thought Black Ops was only okay, and though Modern Warfare 3 had its moments, it was nearly as great as its predecessors. And last year's Black Ops II, well loved by many, is a game I just kind of hate. I never really had an affinity for the Treyarch developed Call of Duty games, but yesh...that game was nothing but disappointment. Anyways, after Black Ops II, I won't lie—I started to wonder if I was becoming one of those people who hated Call of Duty. I simply didn't care to find out what the next entry in the series would contain, and that didn't change much when Call of Duty: Ghosts was first revealed. I thought the teaser trailer was kind of useless, and was worried to see another game developed by the fractured, weak Infinity Ward. Well during the big Xbox One reveal, Microsoft closed off the show in familiar fashion—with our first ever look at the next Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Ghosts. And believe it or not...it kind of swayed me to be excited again. Check it out after the break

The post Trailer Breakdown: Does The Reveal Trailer For Call of Duty: Ghosts Point To A Fresh New Start For The Much Weathered Franchise? appeared first on Geek Binge.
