Hope Springs Eternal: Hulu Is In Talks To Revive Community
Well, a headline like that is going to be able to pay off my house and feed all my children for months. Thanks, Hulu!
Despite what we heard a few weeks back about no Community revival talks taking place over at Sony, Deadline is now reporting that Hulu and Sony are having conversations about potentially reviving the show as a, you guessed it, Hulu exclusive. The idea of a deal like this isn’t exactly ridiculous: after all, Hulu has been trying hard to break into the original content game (just like every other streaming service out there really), and already have exclusive rights to the rest of Community. What’s a few more episodes?
Granted, it’s best not to get your hopes up too much about this deal: as Deadline notes, “conversations are preliminary and it is unclear whether they would lead to a deal.” Though the also note that both sides are willing, so all that needs to happen is a crossing of the I’s and a dotting of the T’s. Allegedly, of course.
Either way, I’d be game, as long as they develop the season with an end goal in mind. One more final season to give closure to these characters and the various plotlines that have been set up by the show? Yes, that would be nice — I don’t want to live in a world in which the season five finale is where Community ends. Like all shows, it deserves an actual conclusion and, with luck, Hulu can be the company give that to the show. Either way, we’ll keep you updated.
