[UPDATED:] Even More Anchorman 2 Cameos Have Been Revealed
[UPDATE #2 May 11th, 2013]: Continuing the ever-growing list of celebrities appearing in Anchorman: The Legend Continues is Jim Carrey, who has been spotted filming in Atlanta. Also, there is confirmation that John C. Reilly will appear, as he was seen filming in a Civil War outfit. It’s unclear what purpose he serves, but there were also reports of a fight between television studios, so he could be part of a massive brawl that upstages the one from the original. Here are some pictures from the set, and then the rest of the article is as follows. We’ll continue to update as more craziness is revealed.
[UPDATE May 8th, 2013]: Hollywood.com has revealed that Kanye West is currently filming a cameo in Atlanta. The rest of the article is as follows.
Besides being the greatest movie of all time – get over, Francis Ford Coppola – Anchorman also boasts one of the best comedic casts of any film. Not a scene goes by without someone like Tim Robbins, Seth Rogen, or Jack Black showing up for a joke and then leaving. After Anchorman 2 was announced, it was widely assumed that, given the original is the greatest movie of all time, the sequel would have quite an impressive cast list. And as news began trickling out that Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate, Luke Wilson, David Koechner, Harrison Ford, Vince Vaughn, Kristen Wiig, Dylan Baker, James Marsden, Meagan Good, Josh Lawson, Greg Kinnear, Nicole Kidman, and John C. Reilly would appear, those assumptions began to be proven correct. Now, the cast list has grown with the addition of two sitcom stars, a Kazakhstani, a god, and a shark.
The Film Stage has reported that Amy Poehler and Tiny Fey will appear in the upcoming sequel in unknown roles, and that Sacha Baron Cohen may also appear as a rival anchor. That should have you excited for the sequel, because if it doesn’t, I’m not sure what could. Will Smith possibly making an appearance? Liam Neeson definitely making an appearance? Ron Burgundy fighting a shark? Ok, that last one got to you, didn’t it? Smith’s appearance hasn’t been confirmed, but Neeson and the shark have been spotted on set, which you can gawk at below.
Yes, that is Ron Burgundy fighting a shark. So as of now, Anchorman 2 will have a full musical number, a custody battle, and a shark fight. If you somehow still have doubts about the film, we’ve still got 7 more months of plot developments and celebrity cameos waiting to be revealed. Anchorman: The Legend Continues will be released on December 20th, putting it right in the middle of the Oscar race. And I’m not a betting man, but I’ve got money on the film that has a shark fight.
