The Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser Poster Is Here—Hey, That Gaping Hole Sure Looks Odd!
Last week, we finally got the official plot synopsis for Star Trek Into Darkness which, more than anything, revealed that Paramount was preparing to launch its advertising campaign for the film. And well I would expect to see a teaser trailer hit later this month (most likely attached to Jack Reacher) later this month, for now, they’ve finally provided us the official Star Trek Into Darkness teaser poster for the film—and it’s a pretty striking one.
Not one to keep you guys in suspense (because I’m nice like that), here’s the teaser poster in full:
First of all, clever use of the Star Fleet logo there, Paramount. SUPER subtle. Also of note is the fact that the “Into Darkness” angle of the title is highlighted more than the Star Trek part…so much so that some might even assume it’s just the tagline for the poster. Still, a pretty nifty little teaser poster if I’ve seen one and, hey, we get our first look at Benedict Cumberbatch’s character! Or, at the very least, the back of him. Oh well, good enough! And that’s a pretty nifty trench coat at the very least.
Anyways, I’m rambling. Here’s the synopsis for the film again just in case you already forgot:
“In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.”
Star Trek Into Darkness will be beaming into theaters May 17, 2013.
